Even though it's been released in the US and Japan, gamers are having a hard time getting a PlayStation 5

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The latest game console Sony PlayStation 5 has been launched in the United States and on Thursday (12/11). Even so, there are still many gamers in the US and Japan who have difficulty getting it online. Yes, in order to maintain security and health in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony is only selling online.

Most major retailers have sold out their PS5 stock. Meanwhile, the pre-order quota ran out in just a few minutes. As reported by Reuters, PS5 retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy Co Inc and Gamestop Corp have immediately run out of stock as soon as this product is released. Likewise at Target’s online store, even at Sony’s own online store it was declared out of stock and customers were asked to check stock again today (13/11).

At Walmart stores, the PS5 is priced at $499 (approximately Rp. 7.05 million), while GameStop is offering the PS5 Launch Day bundle for $799.99 (Rp. 11.3 million). Retailers are also offering the PS5 DualSense controller for $69.99, and the PS5 Pulse 3D headset for $99.99.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the PS5 price on the used goods platform Mercari Inc was sold for more than USD 900 or around Rp. 12.8 million. Demand for a PS5 that offers cutting-edge graphics, faster loading times, and a new DualSense controller with cutting-edge features, and exacerbated by the pandemic, has seen consumers flock to their game stores despite supply chains running short.

Analysts estimate that the shortage of stock game consoles from Sony and Microsoft, which recently launched Xbox Series X, will last until 2021. Previously, Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore (SIES) through its official website announced that the PlayStation 5 (PS5) will be launched in Indonesia on January 22 2021, with the recommended retail price for the PS5 Digital Edition of IDR 7,299 million and the PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive (standard edition) will be available at an SRP of IDR 8,799 million.
