Epic Games Store Has Lost 1.8 Trillion Due to Exclusive Game in the First Year
GAMEFINITY.ID, Singkawang – Epic Games Store is one of the places to buy interesting games. Epic Games Store is known to often provide free games to its users. In addition, this gaming platform, which is often abbreviated as EGS, also has several exclusive games for its users.
But some time ago, EGS was sued by Apple because of a problem. From the lawsuit, we can get a lot of information from ongoing court documents, one of which is the amount of Epic Games Store spending to secure exclusive games that are alleged to have lost millions of dollars.
It is known from the document, that the Epic Games Store has spent 444 million dollars or equivalent to Rp. 6.5 trillion to secure exclusive games from publishers, including guarantees if the game does not sell on the Epic Games Store. However, it is not known for sure how much profit has been obtained by the Epic Games Store.
Well, recently someone leaked documents about the revenue that the Epic Games Store gets from exclusive games. That person is Simon Carless from GameDisccoverCo who shared the list of Epic Games Store exclusive games in 2021 on his Twitter account.
Somebody on Reddit tried to link the games to the advances by using EGS release date, with partial success (but may be incorrect, multiple titles released on same day, etc): https://t.co/WCu2ZyWlu6 pic.twitter.com/4WVlFJ22xf

From the documents provided by Simon, it can be seen that the Epic Games Store has spent Rp 3.1 trillion of capital for exclusive games and only received Rp 1.2 trillion of money. That means the Epic Games Store suffered a huge loss because they only made a profit of less than 50% of the capital they spent.
Until the time this article was written, there has been no further information from the EGS boss. Of course we all have to wait for his response considering that some time ago he was actually ‘proud’ when his trial documents were published.
