CSGO's Latest Update Removes Bots from Competitive and Wingman

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – Valve recently made changes to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as part of the January 7 FPS game update. In addition to many adjustments to the CS:GO map and a few other changes, the developer has changed the way bots work in the competitive and wingman multiplayer game modes. If in the past players who left the match would be replaced by bots, then in the latest update that doesn’t happen anymore.

“When a player disconnects or is kicked in competitive and classic wingman mode, they will no longer be replaced by bots,” the CS:GO update notes.

Thus, if one of the players on the team leaves the match or is sent off, the number of team members will decrease. Unless a player who left out rejoins, then there will be no bots to help a team that is short on players.

The patch note explains that if all players on the team leave the match, then there will be 1 bot that is presented to be killed by the enemy. The bot will also only stay on spawn.

This update immediately received mixed reactions. Quoted from PCGamesN YouTuber CS:GO Anomaly who said fans would prefer to see some changes to how bots work, such as more control over bots, the ability of bots to drop weapons, and more complex commands than removing them.

“Today Linda and I were cut off from a game because the internet dropped. We managed to reconnect and while we were away our team didn’t play too badly because they had two bots. With this new update, they will lose 100 percent of all the rounds we’ve been through.”

A number of fans have also questioned the change in replies to the Twitter channel CS:GO’s tweet announcing the update. Several gamers have also commented on the game’s subreddit, sharing their favorite “bot moments,” as a way to reminisce about when the game still had the bot mode it was before the update. It is not yet clear if the bot will be returned one day.

In the latest patch, some other changes include ping no longer moving when passed by a character, and will no longer highlight weapons in competitive matches. As for the bots now have to navigate properly in the warm-up area of the game. Another addition is the customized Cache, Engage, Guard, and Ancient maps.
