Genshin Impact as one of the most popular games today has generated a lot of revenue to date. It’s also not surprising that the Genshin Impact game attracts hackers and account thieves.
Recently, redditor Rabbit-Outside claimed their account was hacked and they were unable to retrieve it on the grounds that the thief had already spent money on the account.

Reporting from miHoYo’s response, because the “new owners” have spent money for Top-Ups in the game, account ownership is now in their hands or legally recognized by miHoYo there has been a transfer of accounts.
“However, after from the time the player’s account was taken by someone, there were a lot of top-ups after that, so it’s an account transfer situation, so we can’t help in this situation.” said miHoYo.
Be aware that Genshin Impact suggests that because the transaction was carried out by a hacker claiming to be the owner of the account, the account now belongs to that person.
The customer care response from Genshin Impact also refuted claims from Rabbit-Outside that their account was hacked.
“Regarding the hacking issue, we can confirm that the miHoYo account system was not exposed to a malicious attack. Increasing the level of account security should be the responsibility of every player. Please don’t share info to other third party websites/anyone to avoid account loss. close miHoYo.
Some accused miHoYo of having a weak account authentication policy. They also say the absence of two-factor account authorization is to blame.
Another redditor said this is similar to stealing someone’s car and keeping it after changing the vehicle’s tires.
