Capcom Holds Closed Beta Test for New Online Game Resident Evil

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – To celebrate 25 years of the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom will be conducting a closed beta test (CBT) for the new, unnamed Resident Evil online game. The test, which was exclusively for Resident Evil Ambassadors, was conducted for the PS4 and Xbox One platforms between January 27 and 29.

Previously, Capcom planned to reveal details about Capcom’s mysterious project at the Resident Evil Showcase next week. It is possible that the beta tests carried out this time are related to the online mode for Resident Evil Village, although the game has not been announced for the last generation console.

Meanwhile, the requirements to take part in CBT this time are as follows:

  • Gamers have a CAPCOM ID.
  • The CAPCOM ID is linked to the Resident Evil Ambassador program.
  • 18 years or older.
  • Has a supported platform (PlayStation 4, PlayStation4 Pro, and Xbox One).

Registration is open from January 14 to January 25 25. The first deadline is January 20 and announced on January 22, while the second deadline is January 25 and announced on January 27. Resident Evil Ambassadors with a Silver rank or above will have the opportunity to be selected for the beta test.

Meanwhile, the Resident Evil Showcase will start on January 21 at 2 pm PT or 05:00 WIB. According to Capcom, the event will feature a guide from Resident Evil Village, including a new trailer, as well as additional news related to the Resident Evil franchise.

Capcom is celebrating Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary this year. The Resident Evil game was first released in Japan under the name Biohazard on March 22, 1996, before being released in North America eight days later.

In addition to Resident Evil Village, Capcom will also announce plans to release several Netflix projects. Those projects include a new CGI film starring the protagonists of the Resident Evil 2 game, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. In addition, the Resident Evil live action series is also being developed by Constantin Film, who previously worked on the Resident Evil film.
