Al-Azhar and Indonesian Ulemas Criticize Fortnite Game for Containing Destruction of the Kaaba

GAMEFINITY.ID, Singkawang – Some time ago an online game called Fortnite drew various controversies because it contained scenes of the destruction of the Kaaba.

Initially, a video circulated showing Fortnite players in creative mode making the Kaaba building on the map. This is controversial, even before this game has been strongly criticized by the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.

“The fatwa center has previously warned against some electronic games that preoccupy young people’s minds, distract them from their basic duties to acquire useful knowledge or work, and lock them in cyberspace away from reality while inciting them to hatred and self-harm or harming others. other,” explained Al-Azhar University.

Hearing the news about the Fortnite game players, several Indonesian clerics began to intervene.

Ustad Ainul Yaqin as Deputy Chairman of the Council for Islamic Da’wah and Education (Madani) explained that the person who made the game was certainly not a Muslim, because it would be impossible for a Muslim to do such an artistic thing.

He admitted that he was sad and concerned about what happened in the game. This is really intolerable behavior and can trigger inter-religious conflict.

“It’s a shame that this game is left in the name of freedom of expression and a world without boundaries.” he explained.

Prior to that, Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt had issued a ban or ‘ban’ against the game Fortnite because it had led the opinion of its players to carry out attacks or insults to the Islamic religion.
