After Canceling from Participating in M2 World Championship 2021, Maungzy Escaped from Sriwijaya Air Accident

Maungzy canceled flying the Sriwijaya Air flight that crashed, after having intended to return to Pontianak due to not being able to defend his team in the 2021 M2 World Championship in Singapore.

As is known, the people of Indonesia are grieving again after the crash of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane in the waters of the Thousand Islands, DKI Jakarta, Saturday (9/1/2021). On the flight, 50 people were confirmed to be victims along with 12 crew on duty.

In his personal Instagram story on Saturday (9/1/2021), a few minutes after the news of the crash of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182, Ahmad admitted that he was about to board the flight. After it was confirmed that he would not compete in the M2 World Championship, Ahmad wanted to return to Pontianak and planned to return with a Sriwijaya Air plane. Ahmad canceled defending Alter Ego after contracting COVID-19 and unable to recover in time.

Quoted from ANTARA, the Sriwijaya Air plane with registration number PK-CLC SJ 182 for the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact on Saturday (9/1/2021) at 14:40 WIB and crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands between Lancang Island and Laki Island. The Boeing 737-500 aircraft lost contact at a position 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang after crossing an altitude of 11,000 feet and increasing altitude at 13,000 feet.
