Virtus.Pro Wins ESL One Birmingham Without Losing

Virtus.Pro still showed their position as the favorite team at The International 2021 by winning ESL One Birmingham. This is their fourth Major title as well as their third ESL One title this season. Amazingly, this time they came out as champions without losing one games throughout the tournament.

After a very dominant performance all the way to the final round, Virtus.Pro’s opponent in the final round was OpTic Gaming. On games first, Virtus.Pro plays their style of play, which is to win lane as soon as possible. With pressure the strongest of Sand King and Skywrath Mage, Virtus.Pro doesn’t take long to dominate games first.

OpTic identified Virtus.Pro’s playing style and tried lineup very focused on the phase laning with Leshrac, Doom, and Razor supported by Sand King and Undying. This strategy works because as long as early and mid game, OpTic excels over Virtus.Pro. Even so, through an error in mid lane, Virtus.Pro is able to reply and fetch first barrack OpTic in mid lane. The match was tight, but OpTic made another mistake at the end and lost again in the games second.

OpTic again uses a similar strategy but with a different hero. But a team like Virtus.Pro will not fall into the same two strategies. Instead of winning, OpTic Gaming actually lost heavily in third lane they. In just 19 minutes, two carry Virtus.Pro has gone too far and can’t be stopped. Virtus.Pro won with a score of 3-0 and came out as champions.

Before the final match, Fnatic and Pain Gaming competed for the third place. Even though it didn’t mean much, the two teams still competed fiercely. But in the end Pain Gaming closed surprise run them with a 2-1 win.

These results solidify Virtus.Pro’s position at the top of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. But most importantly, it emphasizes to all teams that they are a team to watch out for. Meanwhile OpTic, Fnatic, and Pain Gaming had to give up their hopes of getting into the top eight of the Pro Circuit because all three would not be present at the last Major.
