Two Weeks Before Major, EternalEnvy Remove Gunnar and Newsham From TeamTeam
When Valve released the rules for the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit early last season, there was one rule that worried a lot of people. The rule is that the team may replace roster them anytime. This means that even if the team qualify for the Major tournament, they can still change their team members for the same tournament.
That’s what happened to TeamTeam recently. Just before the MDL Disneyland Paris Major qualifiers, the North American team brought in EternalEnvy who had just disbanded their team, the Flying Penguins. Surprisingly, this team then qualified for the MDL Disneyland Paris Major.
Prior to the Major, they decided to take part in ESL One Mumbai 2021 last weekend. Despite a perfect performance in the group stage, they stagnate, losing twice in a row and finishing in the top six.
Although it may be disappointing, these results can at least be experience and preparation before welcoming the Major. But EternalEnvy said otherwise. While the tournament was still going on, he decided to let out two players namely Newsham and Gunnar. This means that the two players will not play in the MDL Disneyland Paris Major even though they contributed to getting TeamTeam to the Major.

This news certainly caused anger from almost all communities. Moreover, the families of the two players have also booked tickets to Paris to watch.
I’m sad my family has non refundable flights and hotel to Paris Obviously I would have loved to play in the major but I don’t hate anyone. Grabbing my stuff from our practice room was incredibly saddening, good luck guys @ixmike88 @braxlikesdota @EternaLEnVy1991 pic.twitter.com/G6Yk1on3E0

Many regretted this decision and took their anger out on EternalEnvy. In addition, several people also regretted Valve’s lax regulations in maintaining the position of players in the team.
im so dissapointed in mike and brax, after all that talk… I get it it’s a business but @Gunnardota and @NewshamDota deserve to go to the major. Seriously fuck yourselves, valve needs to step in this ain’t right. They earned this…

Wouldn’t it be great if teams that qualified for the Major had to go with the same lineup they qualified with?
The only case were standings should be allowed is due to health issues, VISA problems or mb a death in the family.

Sounds like fun and a good idea. ️
*Last place* but at least we got some LAN experience! ️
You two aren’t going to Paris anymore. ️

This is not the first time Envy has brought out players who have contributed to bringing his team to a Major tournament. In early 2021, he also released Ohaiyo, who was replaced by Universe. This is not counting the other players he kicked out like 1437 from Team NP or SingSing when he was still playing on Cloud9.
Not only that, this is also not the first time he has kicked Gunnar from his own team. Previously, Gunnar also played with EternalEnvy in Flying Penguins. He was later expelled and replaced by Ryoya. The same thing happened again, although we don’t know who will replace Gunnar.
With this incident, it was inevitable that EternalEnvy would be branded as villain. The question is, of course, what will happen at the Major in the next two weeks?
