Review: Ducky Mini – Mini Mechanical Keyboard with Max Features
A large gaming keyboard is not a guarantee that you will get good comfort, features, and durability. In fact, sometimes a large keyboard is a little inconvenient and less practical if you want to use it during tournaments (which usually have very narrow tables) or in your living room when using your HTPC.
Ducky seems to want to take the market segment for those consumers who don’t need a big keyboard by releasing a tiny keyboard which they call the Ducky Mini. Even though the size is only 60% of the average keyboard, the Ducky Mini has used mechanical switches.
Design
The design sold by Ducky Mini is more premium than Ducky Shine 3 because it uses metal materials all over its body. The colors you can get are blackish gray and silver.
Comfort when typing will be slightly reduced if you are used to using a full-size keyboard because the keys are small and the distance between the keys is a little closer so you may need to get used to using this tiny keyboard.
Feature
One of the things we really like about Ducky keyboards is that they provide a wide range of switches from CherryMX ranging from CherryMX Black switches to our favorite CherryMX Brown switches. In this review we had the opportunity to try CherryMX black which is a little heavy in our opinion.
This mini Ducky is also equipped with a dual-tone LED Backlit, which is blue and red, it’s a bit behind the neighboring keyboards that already use RGB Backlit, but the bakclit setting, which only uses key combinations on the keyboard, in our opinion, deserves a thumbs up because you don’t need software. again to set the bakclit color on the Ducky Mini.
The purchase package is also quite complete because you will get some spare key-caps and a key-caps puller to pull out your keyboard keys, a mini USB cable that is equipped with velcro to tie it so it doesn’t fall apart, and the last one is a softcase as a container for storing things. take Ducky Mini on trips or in tournaments.
Backlit mode on Ducky mini consists of 7 profiles and 2 profiles that you can customize up to the button. The configuration is also fairly easy, you just press the Fn + Alt + G keys to change the bakclit mode, and to customize it you can also just press the Fn + Alt + Caps lock key and which key you want to customize next.
If you forget to bring a mouse, this Ducky Mini also has several key combinations that can be used to replace the mouse’s overall function from clicking to gliding which of course we will not use for playing games.
Conclusion
Not many keyboard vendors dare to take a limited market segment like what Ducky did with this Ducky Mini, which targets the mechanical gaming keyboard market with a tiny form. Its design can be said to be in the premium class because it uses metal materials, and the features it has are also complete for this tiny keyboard. Oh, yes you can get this Ducky Mini for 1.3 million rupiah, quite reasonable for a mini mechanical keyboard with various features it has.
