Recap of the Indonesian Team's Gait in the Dota 2 Qualification of the Kiev Major
The open qualifiers for the Dota 2 Kiev Major ended last weekend. After that, the regional qualifiers will take place immediately and it’s now in the second half playoffs. So far, only one team has officially advanced to Kiev, namely Team Faceless from Singapore after qualifying for Southeast Asia.
The Indonesian team itself also participated in the qualification for this Major, with the Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) team being invited directly to the regional qualifiers. While many other teams also entered the open qualifiers to win one of the two seats in the regional qualifiers. Unfortunately none of them still survive in this qualifier.
In this article, we will discuss the extent to which five big Indonesian teams have survived in this qualifier, namely RRQ, Boom.ID, EVOS, ThePrime.NND, and Kanaya Gaming.
ThePrime.NND
TP.NND had to directly meet the Teros E-sports team from Thailand and fall in the round of 64. Although it was only formed earlier this year, Teros itself cannot be underestimated because it consists of quite experienced players such as MyPro and boombell who are former Signature.Trust players.
In the second qualifier, TP.NND’s performance improved and they managed to advance to the round of 16. Unfortunately, they had to fall at the hands of the IQ_Dota team.
Kanaya Gaming
In the first open qualifier, Kanaya Gaming had to fall in the round of 32 after losing to the Pacific Blue team. The team continued to advance before finally being defeated by EVOS in the quarter-finals.
Unfortunately, Kanaya’s gait did not improve in the second open qualifier. They had to immediately fall in the round of 128 after losing to the NeXT team.
Boom.ID
In the first qualification, the team driven by InYourDream had to meet another Indonesian team, namely EVOS Esports in the round of 32. The match was won by EVOS, forcing Boom.ID to drop out of the first qualifier.
During the second qualification, Boom.ID advanced far. They made it to the quarter-finals and faced the Bazaar . teamYouth. Despite providing resistance, this Malaysian team managed to abort Boom.ID from the second qualification. BazaarYouth itself managed to advance to the final, win, and enter the regional qualifiers.
EVOS Esports
The EVOS team’s performance looked very promising in the first qualifiers. After defeating Boom.ID in the round of 32, EVOS advanced to the final round against Team Bazaar, a Malaysian team consisting of the WG.Unity roster. After a fierce match, EVOS had to admit the superiority of Team Bazaar with a score of 1-2.
Unfortunately, EVOS could not repeat its performance in the second qualifier. They must recognize the superiority of the CnS team in the round of 32.
Rex Regum Qeon
RRQ was invited directly to the regional qualifiers, and was the only Indonesian team in this qualifier.
RRQ started the group stage with a positive result by defeating Prestige World Wide, the team that entered the qualifiers from the Battle Cup tournament. But after that one win, they had to swallow six defeats in a row, making their hopes of getting into the rounds playoffs is lost.
New in the match against Clutch Gamers, RRQ managed to record their second win. But of course it was only a consolation point, and they closed this qualifier with a loss to Mineski from the Philippines.
Unfortunately, this time the team from Indonesia still failed to advance to the Major tournament which of course has great prestige. However, seeing how the Indonesian team competed in the open qualifiers and regional qualifiers, I am quite optimistic that in the future the Indonesian team can improve and improve their level of play and consistency. Hopefully in the future they can reap better achievements and results in the international arena.
