RE8 Village Guide Part 1: The Nightmare Begins

If you’re looking for a Resident Evil Village guide, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we’ll cover each of the in-game encounters and puzzles, while helping you navigate through the titular village without becoming food for the Lycans. So, let’s start from the beginning of RE Village.

The game starts with Ethan’s wife, Mia Winters, who is reading a terrible fairy tale to her baby girl. We think maybe you can understand this part yourself.

After Mia hands Rose to you, you are free to wander around the house. There’s nothing to pick up on here, but you can learn more about Ethan and Mia’s life over the past few years by seeing and interacting with things. When you’re done, go upstairs and put Rose on her bed.

When Rose is lying on the bed, head back downstairs and walk into the kitchen to see Mia, then a cutscene will appear. After that, you’ll wake up in the snow next to an overturned van. Later there will be a document and you can find out more about the background story.

Adventure Begins

After experiencing the strangest things, there’s only one way to go:

Go towards where the lights shine on the snowy threshold and walk up the incline into the dark cold air.
Keep walking, following the trail in the snow, until you come to a barbed wire fence. Don’t worry about those gasping noises, we bet they’re nothing.
Keep walking down the only road there is, past the bloodstained snow and dead birds hanging from the ropes.
Go down the other way. Follow along, then you will hear the sound of the river and go to the wooden hut. Open the door, go inside.

Inside, you’ll see drawers, faucets, and wardrobes, but there’s nothing to be found there. While we’re not sure about this, it’s basically an interactive object tutorial.

Once you’ve circled the hut room, walk past the house and down into the basement. There are framed photos you can interact with here, but again, that’s nothing. Keep walking and you will see a cupboard covered in blood.

From the wardrobe, you have to step back. Go back up the basement stairs, then you will see some furniture has been leading towards the door.
Exit the hole in the wall to the right and jump over the fence.
Keep following the path until you are treated to a beautiful view of Castle Dimitrescu on the horizon.
Once you’re done enjoying the view, follow the path down until it slides down and lands next to a dead horse, which is a bit of a contrast to the scene you’ve just seen.

Survive

From here you will start to suffer because you have to survive various attacks from terrible monsters. Walk past the horses and through the creaky door on the right. After that you will see a locked drawer, interact then the map will be marked, after that come back out.

Head through the door on the right, take the path to the right and follow the building until you come back outside and next to the well. Here you can not do anything. Climb the ladder and turn left, walking across the “do not enter” gate.

Take a right and enter the burning building. You will hear some footsteps above. Follow along until you come out the other side. Follow the path down and take a right, towards the downed tractor and the unpleasant music.

The road is winding, so keep following it. You will come to a dead end with a locked gate on your left, on your right there is also a locked chicken coop, and a building that you can enter. Here you should know what to do.

Walk through the open door and you’ll pass a box that can break, but doesn’t have the tools to crack it yet. In addition, there is a table with a knife, take it.

Return to the box and destroy it to get some First Aid Meds. Once you get it, continue through the house until you see a curtain. Interact with him, there will be a cutscene and get ready for an adventure in the world of Resident Evil Village.

Get Bolt Cutters

It’s scary to face a werewolf. But at least now you have a handgun against them. Go into the dungeon filled with corpses. When you reach a certain point you will be attacked by a warewolf (werewolf) and thrown out.

This first encounter is quite intense, due to the close range and the fact that you have limited ammo. To win the battle, please refer to the tips below:

Shoot the head continuously.
If you get close, hold down the L1 (for console) button to hold on.
It will likely require more than half the ammo, but don’t panic, make every shot count.

Now head back to the house where you will find the gun-wielding man and head to his little hiding hole to find Bolt Cutters. Head back outside and use the Bolt Cutters to open the gate across from the hole in the wall you just walked through. In the Resident Evil guide part 2 you will be in the Maiden of War.
