Qualification Ends, 24 Players Confirmed to Compete in Big League IGL

Telset.id, Jakarta – After going through a long process, the eighth week of the Indonesia Gaming League (IGL) Online Qualifier FIFA 19 FUT officially ended. From here, the top 24 players who will compete in the Big League are ‘captured’.

Through an official statement, Saturday (4/5/2021), IGL as the organizer said at least more than 400 players participated in the Online Qualifier, to compete for the remaining three slots that were prepared.

Although the interest and enthusiasm of players is high, IGL ensures that there will be more slots for players who want to participate.

Based on reports received by IGL, the total participants who have registered during the Online Qualifier period have reached more than 1,500 participants. Although this figure was below the initial expectation of 2,000 participants, the organizers said they were satisfied with what had been achieved.

“Overall, we are quite satisfied with the large number of registrants who participated in this inaugural event. After this, we will conduct a small evaluation to make it even better in the future,” said IGL Deputy Chair, Stephen Clinton.

Regarding the tournament mechanism itself, Stephen said that later all players who have confirmed themselves in the Big League will occupy two league groups, namely Big East and Big West. Where each league consists of 12 players.

The format will be the same as the league in general, where wins will be rewarded with 3 points, draws 1 point and those who lose do not get points. During this phase, every player who pocketed a win will also get a cash bonus of IDR 350,000 per match that is won.

The two Big Leagues will later be held on May 11, 2021 for 11 weeks and can be watched via live stream on YouTube Indonesia Gaming League.

After the Big League phase, the competition will continue to the last 16 phase. The best eight players from each league will return to fight with a home-away system. If the results still end in a draw in these two matches, then the two teams will fight their luck in the penalty shootout until they get a win.

The round of 16 phase will be followed by subsequent phases, until finally arriving at the peak phase, namely the final. Here the runner up will get a prize of IDR 25 million and the winner of the tournament will get a cash prize of IDR 50 million.

To complete the initial target, IGL is also holding an Offline Competition in 20 cities spread throughout Indonesia. So far, more than 1,000 players have registered. 60 players from each city have been selected as winners.

In the future, although it does not want to reveal more details, IGL admits that it is preparing a larger-scale soccer game tournament. “Let it be (announced) later, what is clear is that there will be a surprise from IGL,” concluded Clinton.
