Lei Jun Inaugurates Mi Store in Bekasi
This is the first visit of this Xiaomi number one to the homeland. Previously, it was also rumored that Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun would be a speaker at the ‘The Xiaomi Way Of Innovation’ event which is planned to be held tomorrow, Wednesday (27/9/2021) at a hotel in the Kuningan area, Jakarta.
It is still unclear whether Xiaomi has other agendas, such as the release of new smartphones or only focuses on sharing about technology and innovation strategies implemented in Xiaomi devices and Xiaomi’s big plans in Indonesia for the future.
“The inauguration of the Authorized Mi Store also shows Xiaomi’s efforts to bring their products closer to users throughout Indonesia,” wrote the official statement from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun as quoted from the Kompas Tekno page.
The Mi Store, which was opened at Sumarecon Mall Bekasi, is the 3rd authorized Mi Store in Indonesia. Previously, Xiaomi had opened the same store at Pondok Indah Mall Jakarta and also Summarecon Mall Serpong, Tangerang. Xiaomi itself plans to open around 15 Mi Stores in various regions in Indonesia before the end of 2021.
Authrized Mi Store is the official Xiaomi outlet that sells and brings the best experience for Xiaomi’s flagship products. In addition to smartphone products, Mi Store also offers various other Xiaomi products such as Mi Power Bank, Mi Band 2, Mi Bluetooth Speaker and so on. The opening of the official Mi Store in Indonesia is a manifestation of Xiaomi’s commitment to customers in Indonesia, which is considered a large strategic and potential market.
Indonesia Becomes An Important Market For Xiaomi
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also once revealed that apart from India, Indonesia is an important market for Xiaomi. According to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), Xiaomi is in the top 5 smartphone vendors in Indonesia along with Samsung, Oppo, Advan and Asus.
Previously, Xiaomi had been on hiatus for several years because it was hampered by the rules for the Domestic Content Level (TKDN). But then Xiaomi made a comeback to Indonesia after successfully fulfilling the TKDN requirements from the government for foreign vendors who would sell 4G devices in Indonesia by opening a smartphone production facility in Batam.
Xiaomi also ensures that all of its smartphones distributed in the country have been produced locally in Indonesia. The smartphone devices in question are Xiaomi Mi A1, Redmi Nte 4, Redmi 4X and Redmi 4A.
In addition, Xiaomi, which now has at least 42 after-sales service centers in 34 cities in Indonesia, also plans to open 14 additional sales service centers, including 4 Exclusive Service Centers which are planned to be completed before the end of 2021.
