How to Restore Deleted Photos on Android (100% Back)
Have you ever accidentally deleted a photo on your android phone? You must be panicked when your important photos, especially photos with your family and partner that you have been keeping well, are accidentally deleted. If you accidentally delete a file (not delete it permanently) on your PC / laptop, then the file will be stored in the Recycle Bin and you can restore it easily.
Slightly different if on android. How to restore deleted photos on Android can be said to be easy, it can also be said to be difficult. Photos that are intentionally or accidentally deleted are not actually lost on your phone’s storage. The deleted file does not disappear / just disappear because the system only deletes the index file from your android phone storage. Data whose index has been deleted may be overwritten / overwritten by other data because the system assumes that the data does not exist.
It’s easy like this, for example the deleted data A is in sector 125, it’s the same as the index of data A is also deleted. That way sector 125 is considered empty by the OS, but the original data (ie data A) from sector 125 will not be taken care of as long as the sector is not overwritten / overwritten by other data. Therefore, when you accidentally / accidentally delete photos on an Android phone, then you must recover them immediately, don’t delay.
How to Restore Deleted Photos on Android
One way to restore deleted photos on Android is to use the help of an application. The application that I use in this article is DiskDigger Photo Recovery.
Actually there are many other recovery applications that you can use where these applications ‘may’ have different methods from each other in restoring deleted files/photos, but the working principle is the same. Immediately, here are the steps to restore deleted photos on your android:
1. Download and install the DiskDigger Photo Recovery application via the following link.
2. After the installation is complete. Open the app. Then select Start Basic Photo Scan to start the search for your deleted photos. But you need to remember, this option is very limited, if your cell phone storage is like a tree, then with this option we can only search for the deleted photos only in the branches of the tree. Of course only a few photos will be successfully recovered.
3. But if you want to find the deleted photos from the branches to the roots, then you need to use the Full Scan option. This Full Scan option can only be done if your android phone is rooted. The rooting process is not as difficult as you think, you can do it in just one click, you can complete the tutorial read here.
4. Here I want to restore deleted photos using the option Full Scan. And yes, for sure my android phone is rooted. Oh yes, if you have reached this step, I assume your android phone is rooted. Select the partition you want to recover. Choose an option no. 1 if you want to recover deleted photos on internal memory. And choose an option no. 2 if you want to recover deleted photos on external memory (SD card / SD Card).
5. Select the file format you want to recover. For photo file formats, you can check JPG and PNG, but I deliberately checked the MP4 format because I also want to recover my deleted videos. We can’t choose other than these 3 options, because the other options are only for the Pro version (you have to buy this app). Next select OK.
6. Wait for the scanning process to complete. you can do scanning filters (optional, can be skipped) by clicking the icon Settings as indicated by the arrow. You can set the scan result to only display photos that are at least 100,000 bytes (800KB) in size. You can also set the application to only scan files or photos on certain dates (minimum and maximum file date). Remember, this is only optional. After that select OK.
7. The scanning process is complete. On my phone storage, this app has found about 7000 files. Not all files or photos can be recovered, maybe some are corrupt and damaged. Therefore, when your photos are deleted, you need to recover it soon so that the photos can be returned in good condition (not corrupt).
8. Check the photos you want to recover. If you want to select all, click the icon three dots which is on the top right of the app and select Select All. To uncheck the photo that you have selected previously, select Unselect All. And if you want to sort the size of the photos from smallest / largest, select Sort by size.
9. After that select the button Recover (no.1) then select the location (I chose no. 2) where you want to save the recovered photos. If what is recovered is internal memory, then save it on the SD card and vice versa.
10. A message will appear Complete Recovery which indicates that the recovery process was successful.
Can All Deleted Photos Be Restored?
It depends, when the photos on your phone are deleted, and you immediately do the recovery, then the possibility to restore the deleted photos is getting bigger, if it is a percentage, maybe around 80-95% back. As I said before, so that your photos can be recovered optimally, it is highly recommended for you to root your Android phone first.
How can I prevent this from happening again?
It is highly recommended for you to backup your photos. Personally, I prefer to back up my important files and photos on my external HDD. But if you don’t have it, you can save it on your laptop / computer.
Another option, you can save it in a cloud storage application such as Google Drive, this application already exists by default on your android phone. You can get 15GB free from Google Drive, I think 15GB is more than enough.
Well, I’ve given a tutorial on how to restore deleted photos on the most powerful Android, but I don’t really guarantee that your deleted photos can be returned in good condition. Because of course, there are other factors that cause photos to not be recovered or corrupted, whether it’s because you were late in recovering them, partitions overwritten by other data and so on. But there’s nothing wrong if you try it first. Good luck and hopefully useful.
