He didn't buy a cellphone to play PUBG, this boy hanged himself

Telset.id, Jakarta – An 18-year-old boy was found dead by suicide hanged oneself. Ironically, the reason the boy came from Mumbai this is desperate to kill himself because he didn’t buy a new cellphone to play the Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds game (PUBG).

Reported Telset.id from the Hindustan Times on Sunday (10/02/2021), the unfortunate teenager who was not named is a resident of the Nehru Nagar area in Kurla, Mumbai India.

It is said that this teenager demanded that he be bought a high-end smartphones for 37 thousand Rupees or the equivalent of Rp. 7 million to be able to play PUBG games. However, the family refused his request.

According to the Indian police, the family thought they would only buy smartphone which costs no more than 20 thousand Rupees.

Confused and annoyed, the teenager then took a reckless action by picking up a rope and committing suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in the kitchen where he lived.

According to local media reports, the case has been reported to the police, and further investigation is currently underway.

PUBG itself is online game popular multiplayer. In this game, there are about 100 players fight for free for all types of battles, where the only survivor emerges victorious.

The Indian government itself has previously issued a policy regarding the PUBG game. They issued a firm statement regarding the phenomenon of the impact of addiction online game.

In fact, the country’s government has released a list gamesdeemed harmful to children, including games popular ones like PUBG, Fortnite, and Pokemon.

As quoted Telset.id from India Today, Friday (8/2), the Child Protection Commission in Delhi has blocked several games, including Pokemon. In addition, there are also PUBG, Fortnite, GTA, God of Warm Hitman, and Plague Inc.

“The game contains elements of misogynism, hatred and revenge which have a negative impact on the brain and mindset of children,” the Delhi Child Protection Commission wrote in an official statement to the public. [NM/HBS]
