Day Four Main Event DotA 2 The International 8
The fourth day of the main event of the MOBA DotA 2 games tournament, The International 2021, has ended. The DotA 2 Pro Circuit leader for the 2021-2021 season, Virtus.Pro, played 2 lower bracket matches. On the fourth day of the DotA 2 The International 8 main event, they had to go home together with OpTic Gaming, and VGJ.Storm.
Round 3 Bottom Bracket
After sending Mineski out of the DotA 2 The International 8 tournament, Virtus.Pro had to face OpTic Gaming in the bottom bracket of round 3. OpTic Gaming still lost in class to Virtus.Pro when looking at the overall results of the DotA 2 Pro Circuit. However, ppd is one of the few truly brilliant DotA 2 drafters and strategists. He has also been a winner of The International.
In the first half of Best of 3 (Bo3), ppd allowed Virtus.Pro to have Io paired with Gyrocopter. To be able to fight it, OpTic made a surprise on the last draft of the draft. The North American team selected Huskar late in the draft to play in the middle lane, and sent Per Anders “Pajkatt” Lille to play Clinkz in the safe lane.
OpTic played a fast game via Huskar who dominated Virtus.Pro in the middle lane. Together with the growing Clinkz, they closed the first half in just 35 minutes without a single death to their Clinkz and Huskar.
The second half was a brutal domination that came from Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev. She plays Broodmother in the offlane. OpTic relies on Pajkatt’s Alchemist to match the three core heroes from Virtus.Pro. However, full control in the second half was in the hands of Virtus.Pro who finally forced the decisive third round to be played.
Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev shined again in the third round via Necrophos with his choice of Radiance build. Virtus.Pro uses Dark Willow and Furion for support hero positions. Both heroes were chosen to increase their initial aggression which was finally able to make OpTic lose in less than 30 minutes. Virtus.Pro won the match by a score of 1-2, and advanced to round 4 of the lower bracket.
For OpTic Gaming, this was the end of the North American team’s path in the DotA 2 tournament The International 8. They finished in 8th place, earning them a prize money of $600,000.
Another bottom bracket 3rd round match between VGJ. Storm against Team Secret was played on the fourth day of the main event of DotA 2 The International 8 as well. VGJ.Storm is eligible to enter the DotA 2 The International 8 tournament via the open bracket qualifiers, to then take first place in the closed qualifiers.
They finished in first place in the group stage in Group B. However, the coach’s drama left them with a draft penalty and without a coach in the match room. They immediately fell into the lower bracket after losing to OG. A very convincing victory over Winstrike was achieved, but they fell behind Team Secret.
In the first half, Storm ignored Team Secret’s pick Meepo from Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard. Meepo was sent off to the offlane and by 12 minutes of play, he already had Blink Dagger, followed by Manta and Ethereal Blade at 23 minutes. Without a strong counter for Meepo Storm is not able to stem the great damage from the hero. The first half finished in about 30 minutes with a 20K gold advantage for Team Secret.
The second half is more exciting because both teams have heroes who can change things. Team Secret relies on Terror Blade played by Ace and Storm relies on Medusa played by Resolut1on. However, Team Secret’s draft was superior via the support of Vengeful Spirit and Silencer. The strong and precise support of the two heroes forced the VGJ.Storm team’s battle against Team Secret to almost always be at a disadvantage.
However, VGJ.Storm forced to win, so the second half lasted almost 60 minutes. However, Team Secret finally found a chance to win when they were forced to defend. Clinkz is assigned to steal the barracks, while four other Team Secret heroes survive. They are able to defend buildings and then finish off buildings in the VGJ.Storm headquarters area. VGJ.Storm’s adventure at The International 2021 must end.
Round 4 Bottom Bracket
One of the lower bracket round 4 matches was also played on the fourth day of The International 2021 main event. The match was between Evil Geniuses and Virtus.Pro. EG took the first half from Virtus.Pro for sure as that CIS team gave them a Storm Spirit which ended up being given to Sumail ‘SumaiL’ Hassan to play with. With rtz playing Drow, EG was able to shut down Virtus.Pro’s moves continuously and never let them take the lead. At about 30 minutes, EG took the opportunity that was available to them well and forced Virtus.Pro to mention GG.
With the threat of elimination in sight, Virtus.Pro started the second half aggressively. They were able to take the lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. However, EG did not remain silent, even though the Alchemist played by SumaiL was constantly being bullied. SumaiL and EG were able to make a comeback and take control of the game. Control that moves, makes Virtus.Pro mobilize all the strategies and skills they have. Ursa played by Romanus ‘RAMZES’ Kushnarev was brilliant, but was unable to bring Virtus.Pro to change things.
Finally, GG was typed, Virtus.Pro who led almost the entire DotA 2 Pro Circuit for the 2021-2021 season had to settle for 5/6 The International 2021. EG continued to advance in the lower bracket which would later meet with Team Liquid or Team Secret in the second round. 5.
Well, that’s the latest eSports news about The International 2021. Too bad Virtus.Pro had to be eliminated early. However, this tournament is still exciting because there are still classy teams like Team Secret, Team Liquid, PSG.LGD, EG, and also OG.
