Tips and Tricks Against Frostfang Barioth in Monster Hunter World Iceborne

Some time after officially releasing Alatreon, Capcom itself has recently brought a new monster update in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. As if to invite you to cooldown for a moment, Capcom has just added the presence of another Barioth variant called Frostfang Barioth.

His appearance since August 7 yesterday looks special. Because he appeared in a special event quest entitled “The Last White Knight“Immediately in tempered form and at level MR Quest *6.

Compared to Alatreon, the Frostfang Barioth was fortunately not an overly difficult monster. Even so, this monster still has a number of maneuvering gimmicks that are quite dangerous if you are not alert. So that you are not too overwhelmed in fighting it, here are interesting tips and tricks that we want to share with you.

Preparation

Frostfang Barioth Weakness

Actually, there are not many special preparations that you need to know. But if there is, at least you have to understand that Frostfang barioth is an ice elemental monster. Using ice and water elemental weapons is definitely something you should avoid. Beyond that any weapon is still effective to use.

In providing the defense side, preparing ice resistance is arguably also quite helpful in this battle. Especially if you raise it above 20. So when hit, you can reduce the damage from the ultimate attack that he releases.

Attacks to watch out for

More or less not much different than you against a normal Barioth. It’s just that, he is now equipped with a burst of ice that feels more trapping.

It’s called trapping because Frostfang Barioth can create a pool of ice that can seem to instantly bind your character’s movements. After that, it immediately triggers him to issue a deadly jump attack. Especially when in the enraged phase, he can do jump attacks 2 times in a row.

Apart from his jump attack, he also has the ultimate ice blast with a fairly powerful blast distance.

Strategies you can do

  • Optionally, you can set up a torch pod to remove any traces of ice puddles that Frosfang Barioth emits.
  • Think of it like fighting a normal Barioth, you can try destroying the wings in one or both hands to reduce Frostfang Barioth’s agility in moving.
  • When he spouts ice in a forward circle, try to get as close to the Frostfang barioth’s head or chest as possible instead of backing away and getting hit so you can open up as much space as possible to attack.
  • Considering that you will first meet him in a narrow area, as much as possible take advantage of the wallbang (from clutch claws) before he is about to enter the enraged phase.
  • The shield isn’t very effective at all against Frostfang barioth’s ultimate attack
  • Because it’s not an elder dragon, you can catch it (when it’s dying) instead of being tired of killing it

If that’s the tips and tricks that we want to give you so that you really don’t experience many significant difficulties in hunting Frostfang Barioth.

The rewards you get from hunting these monsters are quite valuable to embrace. His armor set has a Punishing Draw skill bonus for every use of one piece of armor as well as an additional Slugger Secret skill for his 3 equiped armor pieces.

In total, you need 10 Frostfang tickets yourself to be able to craft all Frostfang Barioth armor sets for both alpha and beta armor pieces. At the same time with 3 pieces of the same ticket for each weapon you want to target.

What you should pay attention to, this quest event is only present for a temporary duration, to be precise, the last one will be on August 19, 2021.
