[Review] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 - ONE PIECE!

Reviewed by Kenrick Wangkawinata (Freelance Contributor)

At the beginning, I thought I would feel bored with the gameplay which is similar to the previous series. But surprisingly, not at all. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 can really make me re-live the happy and sad times when watching important scenes in anime series One Piece.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a game with the genre of action-adventure, beat ’em up and mosou style Dynasty Warrior. Players can use their favorite characters, both protagonists and antagonists and defeat thousands of enemies. The use of assets from the previous series is also still there and felt, so don’t expect too much Bandai polishing the character to be better than the previous series.

Curious about our impressions and reviews? Here’s a review from our contributors for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.

Even though, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 can really amaze me. With more than 40 characters that can be used and also how to tell the story One Piece which is very beautiful. This time One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 already available for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and also PC via Steam.

The anime atmosphere that still feels

Main story from One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 which are called Dramatic Log, covering more than 900 episodes One Piece into a game that lasts approximately 15 hours. For a moment, this is quite difficult to do because there are too many important, sad, and funny scenes in the anime One Piece. But of course this can be conquered and become a game that tells like a book that is very informative and can be said to be fun.

I’m sure it’s true, fans whodie hard‘ will definitely miss some cutscene because I was bored. Except for the (SPOILER) scene of Zoro cutting the Pika statue in half during the Dressrosa Arc. One thing that still makes me love the series One Piece: Pirate Warriors is a voice actor that is still original. Yup, Luffy and crew’s voice Straw Hat Pirate in this game filled by voice actors (seiyuu) original in the anime version.

ONE PIECE: PIRATE WARRIORS 4

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 It contains 6 major major events in the manga and anime, namely: Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Paramount War, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, and the last bit from Wano. The fans One Piece must have known that the Wano Arc itself wasn’t finished. Therefore, Omega Force as a developer has not dared to take the important parts contained in Wano. So players can’t use King, Queen, or Jack because the game development was done before their powers were told in the comics or in the animated film. Is it possible that Omega Force will make DLC Character Pass for the important characters in the Wano Arc?

Treasure, Throne and Power?

Different from Pirate Warriors 3, in this series players can change the skills that exist in each character. Like Luffy can use Gear 2 and Gear 4 skills without the use of Gear 3. And if you enter Gear 4, players will have skills that Luffy can only use in Gear 4 without being combined with other skills.

Sounds quite complex indeed, but this really changes the existing gameplay so far. Although you will still only press the same button, because this is indeed a Beat ’em Up game. Still almost similar to Pirate Warriors 3, you can stillupgrade these skills. But this time you need money and coins for each character to be able to upgrade the character’s skills. At least we have a reason to keep playing this game even after completing all Dramatic Logs.

Speaking of content that can be played after completing the Dramatic Log, Omega Force has prepared a Treasure Log where players can use anyone just to make money and look for coins. Of course, you can play locally where your screen will be divided into two, or online which can accommodate up to 4 players. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 very suitable to be played online considering this game only defeats enemies everywhere.

Jump?

Yup, it takes until the 4th series decides Omega Force to make a character One Piece can jump in the air and perform attacks. At first this sounds like fun, but for some characters it certainly isn’t. Like for example Sanji, fans must know that Sanji can fly and do a lot of fatal attacks in the air. But this does not apply to characters like Jinbe. Fans must know that Jinbe is a character from the fish-man race which means he is very strong in water as well as on land. This makes Jinbe very useless when carrying out attacks in the air.

Omega Force also adds the ability to fly for some characters. But believe me, fly in Pirate Warriors 4, really not as good as you think because the controls are arguably messy. You can’t control how high it is and it becomes difficult to defeat enemies who are short and must be defeated quickly.

Conclusion

Even though it looks unprepared, Omega Force still makes me love the One Piece series even more. Uniquely skill tree made me think a little about which skills I feel are suitable for the way I play. Besides Dramatic Log which takes 15 hours, Treasure Log It’s sure to keep players busy for the next few hours, and also some characters that can’t be helped only if you get an S Rank in certain missions. Can be said One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will keep me from feeling bored during this WFH period.
