Battle royale games are one of the most popular genres in the world of gamers today and it can’t be denied that it’s all thanks to the presence of PUBG. Many people think that PUBG: New State is the future of the PUBG franchise.
Its presence that is devoted to smartphones reinforces at least two things, the first is that PUBG Studio and Krafton will be able to recognize the space to explore more growth. And secondly, the presence of this game shows continuous efforts to develop the battle royale genre on various platforms.
According to a Sensor Tower report late last year, Tencent’s PUBG Mobile topped the list of games with the largest revenue in 2021. Tencent’s revenue from this game is around USD 2 billion. The report notes that revenue includes those generated from the App Store and Google Play Store and an increase of 64.3% when compared to the previous year.
A note from Sensor Tower states that three games managed to reach the billion dollar mark in 2021 namely PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings and Fate / Grand Order. The report revealed that this year’s success was influenced by the pandemic factor that forced many people to stay at home. Sensor tower also noted that although the global mobile game market managed to generate USD 75.4 billion, an increase of 19.5% compared to 2021. Although this growth is considered unlikely to be repeated this year, game development is likely to prevent a decline. (via)
