Official! Respawn and EA Will Hold Apex Legends Global Series Championship
With the Winter Circuit taking place this weekend, Respawn and EA as the developer Apex Legends will officially hold a tournament titled Apex Legends Global Series Championship. The tournament will present a total prize pool 1 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 14 billion. This tournament will officially be held on June 1 next.
The Apex Legends Global Series Championship will be divided into 5 regions, namely North America, South America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), North APAC (Japan and Korea), and South APAC (Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand). All teams from each region will compete to become the “Champions of the Arena”, the title for the champion of each region.
The plan is that the Apex Legends Global Series Championship will be held online on line, considering that the world is still engulfed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Most regional qualifiers for the Apex Legends Global Series Championship will be based on placement playoffs Winter Circuit and cumulative points. However, additional teams who wish to take part can also qualify through the regional Last Chance Qualifiers. The Last Chance Qualifiers themselves will take place from April 23 to April 25.
The Apex Legends Global Series Championship group stage event will take place on June 1. After that, grand final will take place on June 12 and 13. In total there will be 40 teams competing in two regions, namely North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Meanwhile, 30 teams will participate from each region of North APAC (Japan and Korea), South APAC (Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand), and South America. The format that will be used in this group stage is round-robin. Grand final itself will be followed by a total of 20 best teams from each region to compete for the world title.
The Apex Legends Global Series Championship will be broadcast live on Apex Legends’ official Youtube and Twitch.
