Based on rumors circulating, a new character named Hu Tao will arrive in March which is actually still part of the 1.3 update. Although it has not been officially announced, there is already a lot of evidence that Hu Tao will arrive from beta test participants in China. Of course we are still waiting for miHoYo to announce Hu Tao as a character playable new arrivals in Genshin Impact.

If Hu Tao does arrive and you’re the one who’s aiming for him in the next banner, here’s a list of things you should do farming starting from now. The items below are needed to strengthen Hu Tao, from character level to Talent.

Hu Tao Upgrade Items

Based on info from Reddit, the item needed to upgrade Hu Tao’s talent requires the talent book “Diligence”, an item that can be obtained from the monsters Whopperflowers, Crowns of Insight, and Shard of a Foul Legacy. Meanwhile, to unlock Hu Tao’s level cap requires a mixture of Agnidus Agate, Juvenile Jade, Silk Flowers, and items from Whopperflowers.

It is estimated that it takes a total of 168 Silk Flowers to unlock all of Hu Tao’s level caps.

Farm Whopperflowers

Hu Tao needed Whopperflower Nectar, Shimmering Nectar, and Energy Nectar to level up his character. This item is also a necessity to increase his talent level and raise his level cap.

These three items are found by defeating a monster named Whopperflower. Whopperflower Nectar is dropped by a dead Whopperflower, Shimmering Nectar is dropped by Whopperflower level 40 and above, Energy Nectar is dropped by a Whopperflower level 60 and up. All Whopperflower element types do not affect the items you get. So fight every Whopperflower you meet.

You must first reach Adventure Rank 26 to access the domain and it can be visited on a Wednesday or Friday or Sunday.

Farm Agnidus Agate

Like all Pyro characters, Hu Tao needs an item called Agnidus Agate for Ascend. Agnidus Agate and all its variants are obtained by defeating the Pyro Regisvine boss that you can find in Liyue. Sometimes you’ll get Agnidus Agate from Wolf of the North and can buy it in small quantities from the gift shops in Liyue and Mondstadt.

Farm Shard of a Foul Legacy

To raise talent level 7 and above, usually you are asked to look for items that can be obtained from the Weekly Boss. Hu Tao himself needs an item called Shard of a Foul Legacy to raise talent to level 7 – 10. You can get this item randomly after defeating Childe at Domain Gold House.

Please note, Shard of a Foul Legacy can be obtained randomly in Room Memories: Golden Shadow II and above.

Farm Crown of Sagehood
