Developer Team Wants Rainbow Six: Siege to Be a Free to Play Game

Internal Team Wants Rainbow Six: Siege to Be a Free to Play Game

Since its 2021 release, Rainbow Six: Siege is now a multiplayer game that is quite in demand by shooter lovers. Was criticized when it was released, now Rainbow Six: Siege managed to become a strong multiplayer game. Growing content and solid competition are able to make this game live quite a long time to date. Interestingly, Ubisoft has plans to change the business model for Rainbow Six: Siege.

In his interview with PCGamesN, director Rainbow Six Siege, Leroy Athanassoff, revealed that the internal team actually wanted to see this game become free to play. The aim is that Rainbow Six: Siege want to be tasted by many gamers. But still, the final decision rests with the company which is Ubisoft itself.

Athanassoff also emphasized that turning it into a free-to-play game was also not an easy matter. Many aspects must be considered so as not to harm all parties. One of Athanassoff’s concerns is the exploitation of his game. An example is the creation of new accounts by advanced players. The goal is of course to ruin the playing experience because of a one-sided match.

This time Rainbow Six: Siege already available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It is worth waiting for whether this discourse will be realized in the future.
