Commemorating the Departure of Juice WRLD, Live Free 999 Founded for Mental Health

Exactly on World Mental Health Day last Saturday (10/10), a mental health activist organization for the younger generation was launched by Carmela Wallace, mother of rapper from the United States, Juice WRLD.

rapper who is also familiarly called by the name Jarad, died on December 8, 2021 due to a drug overdose. Later found out through the mother, rapper also experience mental problems such as depression, anxiety disorders (anxiety), and also addiction.

The mother became a good storytelling and never judged Jarad for what had happened. Knowing his son needed professional help for his mental state, he supported Juice WRLD for counseling.

Reported from Billboard, now that Jarad is gone, the mother hopes that her son’s death can bring about a change for both parents and children who may be experiencing a similar condition.

“You don’t have to suffer alone. You don’t need to be ashamed of your mental disorder. There must be help. There must be a way,” he said in a letter.

The effort to spread this message is through an organization called Live Free 999. It was founded last April, just yesterday on World Mental Health Day website for this organization was launched.

The word “Live Free” was chosen when the mother found a photo where Juice WRLD was wearing a jacket with the inscription on it. The number 999 itself is often echoed by Jarad in his music which has the meaning “in the midst of any situation, no matter how bad, turn it into a positive thing and keep pushing yourself to move forward”.

This organization has a goal to help people who experience mental health problems as well as addictions, both by providing appropriate assistance and treatment.

Live Free 999 also continues the influence of Juice WRLD’s music that for many helps them stay survive in depression and anxiety disorders.
