Ys VIII Mobile Appears Again, Graphics Are Cooler Than the PC Version

GAMEFINITY.ID, Bandung City — As you know, Ys itself is one of the oldest franchises in JRPG history. Starting from 1987, Ys continues to maintain its existence by releasing various titles to date. In addition to releasing Monstrum Nox and the MMO version of Ys VI, Falcom is also developing a remake version of Ys VIII to be marketed on mobile.

This is quite unique, because we rarely hear or see the graphics quality of multi-platform video games on mobile will be better than the PC and Console versions themselves. Generally, game adaptations of the PC/Console version will experience a visual downgrade when released on mobile.

Through a gameplay video demonstrated by Falcom, they showed a scene after Adol and the occupants of the Lambordia ship had a sea accident. With the accident, Adol is stranded on a mysterious island called Seiren. The demonstration shows an improvement from the vanilla version of Ys VIII, especially in terms of graphics which make it look more attractive.

But behind the good news, we are quite worried that Ys VIII Remake will be marketed as a free-to-play game that will create a different playing experience. It would be better if this remake version was developed into a premium game without having to sacrifice aspects that existed in the previous original version.

Ys VIII itself was first released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita platform in 2021, which was then followed by a global version on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4.
