Wow! The International 10 Threatened to Fail to Held in Sweden!

GAMEFINITY.ID, Salatiga – Bad news comes from the highest esports event Dota 2. Because the highest caste competition is Dota 2, The International 10 is threatened with cancellation due to licensing issues.

News about the threat of TI 10 comes from internal beta tester and Dota 2 community figure, Wykrhm Reddy. Wykrhm Reddy reports that Valve is currently facing licensing issues for the IT 10 operation in Stockholm, Sweden.

Valve itself initially announced that The International 10 would be held at the Avicii Arena, Stockholm, Sweden. Careful preparations have been made by Valve for the smooth running of this highest Dota 2 competition.

But unfortunately, it turns out that the Swedish government does not allow the implementation of TI10 in Sweden. The reason is that the Swedish Sports Association considers that The International 10 is not an elite sporting event like the Olympics.

This turned out to have an impact not only on the place or venue. The players, talents, casters and staff participating in the tournament will find it difficult to get a Visa and enter Sweden.

Efforts Made By Valve

In the face of these licensing issues, Valve has made various efforts to continue to be able to hold TI 10 in Sweden.

After receiving news that Valve’s permit was refused by the Swedish Sports Association, Valve immediately contacted the Swedish Ministry of the Interior and requested that The International 10 be considered an elite sporting event. However, the request was rejected by the Swedish Ministry of the Interior.

Then on 9 June 2021 Valve tried to persuade the Swedish Government to change The International 10’s status as an elite sporting event. Unfortunately, the Swedish government has not been able to provide assistance in this regard.

Now Valve is looking for an alternative location if The International 10 is canceled in Sweden. Some of the strongest nominees were Finland and Ukraine.

Dota 2 Community Reaction

Alliance, a Swedish team that won The International 3

Of course, this unfavorable news received various reactions from pro players, teams, and the Dota 2 community.

One of the legends of Dota 2 and winner of The International 2021, Jonathan “Loda” Berg strongly criticized the Swedish government’s policy.

As a Swedish citizen, Loda thinks that the Swedish government does not support pro players and esports organizations who have made Sweden famous like himself and the Alliance team.

Even though Sweden is considered a producer of quality Dota 2 pro players such as Zai, s4, INsan1a, AdmiralBulldog, and others.

Then negative reactions also came from the Director of Operations and Team Secret Manager, Matthew “Cyborgmatt” Bailey. He thinks that having an esports event like Dreamhack really helps the Swedish economy through the arrival of tourists and visas.

Until now, Valve has not been able to announce the continuation of the TI10 licensing problem. What is certain is that the entire Dota 2 community really hopes that whatever happens to Valve, TI10 must continue this year.
