Up in arms! N0tail Accuses Alliance of Cheating Through In-game Coaching

GAMEFINITY.ID, Salatiga – This time, DPC EU Season 2 has drawn controversy. In the match between Alliance against Tundra Esports on week 5 of Dreamleague Season 15 DPC WEU, Alliance was proven to use the in-game coaching feature.

In-game coaching is a feature in Dota 2 where a player can join a match to give instructions. Under Valve regulations, the use of in-game coaching is strictly prohibited in official matches.

This caused a polemic in the Dota 2 community. The pro players and talents of Dota 2 Pro Scene began to speak up regarding this case. One of them is the captain of the OG team that is n0tail.

N0tail denounces Alliance’s actions of hiring a legendary captain PPD to become an in-game coach. According to him, the use of an in-game coach makes the match unbalanced because the coach can provide important inputs during the game.

Clarification from ESL

However, it turned out that ESL as the Event Organizer of the EU DPC changed the match rules suddenly where teams were allowed to use an in-game coach. This causes the Alliance’s actions to be legal and not against the rules.

ESL also clarified that this rule change has been informed to all teams participating in the EU S2 DPC via Email. And it turns out that the only team that knows about this rule change Email is Alliance while other teams like OG don’t know at all.

Now ESL has returned the in-game coaching rules to their original state because these regulations violate the rules made by Valve, thus reaping many cons from the Dota 2 community.

n0tail clarification

After reading the clarification from ESL, n0tail admitted his mistake that he did not read the announcement Email from ESL and immediately accused Alliance of fraud.

However, the Dota 2 community was outraged by n0tail’s unprofessional attitude and did not apologize to Alliance for the accusations. Even one of the players from the Alliance that is Nicobaby strongly criticized n0tail’s actions.

This time’s drama also brought out a variety of fresh memes from the community. OG’s biggest rival, Team Secret, joined the roasting of the n0tail act. Through their twitter account, Team Secret replied to OG’s tweet with their roasting signature.

The drama this time should be a lesson for the various parties involved in the official tournament event. ESL as the EO should not change the rules suddenly and in the middle of the event, n0tail as the captain should pay attention to all incoming information related to the event rules.
