How to Install Windows 10 with Flashdisk – Installing Windows 10 on a laptop or computer is something that cannot be missed. The reason is, this version of the Windows operating system already has many advantages compared to previous versions. Besides there are many modern and advanced features, Windows 10 is also compatible to be installed on all devices.

The installation process is generally done using a DVD that already contains the program. However, many people today are switching to using flash because it is considered faster in the installation process. Especially if your PC or laptop uses an SSD, then the process of installing Windows 10 with a flash is the most appropriate choice.

Minimum Device and Flash Disk Specifications to Install Windows 10

Installing Windows 10 with a flash is currently more popular than using a DVD. The reason is because Windows 10 has an ISO file size of more than 5 GB, while the DVD capacity is only 4.7 GB. However, before installing, you should know in advance what the minimum specifications must be owned by a PC or laptop that will install Windows 10. The applicable Windows 10 system requirements are:

Processor: at least 1 GHz.
RAM: minimum size of 1 GB (32-bit) and size of 2 GB (64-bit).
Hard Disk: minimum size of 16 GB (32-bit) and size of 20 GB (64-bit).
Graphics Card: at least DirectX 9 or later.
Display: 800×600 pixels.

However, if the PC or laptop does not meet the minimum specifications for Windows 10 or lower, it does not mean that the installation cannot be carried out. It’s just that if it is installed, the laptop’s performance will be unstable and tend to be slower. For that, it is recommended that the Windows 10 system requirements above have been met by your device before installing Windows 10 with a flash drive.

Apart from the specifications that must be owned by the PC or laptop that will be used, also make sure that you have used a compatible type of flash drive and can be used to install. This is because the Windows 10 ISO file also has a fairly large size, so not all flash drives of various sizes can be used to install Windows 10. Some things that also need to be fulfilled are:

The minimum size of the flash disk capacity is 8 GB
Try not to use a USB 3.0 flash drive.
Try not to use a flash drive that does not contain other types of files or is empty.
Have prepared a Windows 10 ISO file on a PC or laptop device which can be obtained by downloading it on the Microsoft website or using the Media Creation Tool.

Creating a Bootable Flashdisk

After all the devices and flash drives that will be used are ready and in accordance with the required specifications, the next step is to create a bootable flash drive before going to the installation stage of Windows 10 with a flash. There are several ways that can be used to make this Bootable, namely with Rufus or with the Media Creation Tool. To create Bootable using Rufus, here are the steps:

Download Rufus by visiting following site.
Plug the flash that will be used into the existing device port.
Run the Rufus application, then select Select next to the Boot selection option.
Select the Windows 10 ISO file already on your device, then click Open.
After that, go back to the Rufus tab window, and switch to the Partition Scheme option. At this stage, you must choose the type of Partition Scheme according to the type of partition on your hard drive or SSD.
When finished selecting the partition type, continue by pressing the Start button to start the next process.
When a notification appears that all data in the flash will be formatted, click OK. Then the process of making a bootable flash will run about 12 minutes. If a notification window appears, just click Close.
If the whole process is completely finished, please close the Rufus window by pressing Close.

As previously mentioned, there is another way besides using Rufus to create a bootable flash drive, namely with the Media Creation Tool. In addition to making Bootable, this official tool from Microsoft is also able to download Windows 10 ISO files and Windows 10 updates. To start the process, an internet connection is needed on the device. The steps are as follows:

Download the Media Creation Tool on following link, then run.
Once open, select Accept for Applicable Notices and license terms.
Next, select the option Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC then continue with Next.
Select the desired language, edition, and Windows 10 architecture, then uncheck the Use the recommended options for this PC box, and press Next.
Select the USB flash drive, then Next, and select Next again on the next page.
Wait for the process to run and press Finish when it is finished.

Installing Windows 10

After the bootable flash disk creation process is complete, the device used must be restarted. Once turned on again, enter the BIOS by accessing the Del, Esc, or Ins keys for PC. As for laptops, most use the F2 key. You can also press F1, F3, F5, or F10. After entering, select the Boot menu, then set the boot priority until the flash drive is at the top or at number 1.

After that Save and wait for the device to restart. After the laptop or PC restarts, a Windows Setup window will appear indicating that the installation process will begin immediately. For that, here are the steps to install Windows 10 with a flash:

In the Windows setup window that appears, select the desired language and Time and currency format, then Next, and Installnow.
Click I don’t have a product key at the bottom of the window.
Select Windows 10 Pro, then Next.
Check the I accept the license terms, then Next.
Select the Custom installation type: Install Windows only (advanced).
Create at least 2 partitions, namely for Windows 10 system file storage and as a place to store personal data. Click New to create a partition on an existing disk that is still empty.
Before pressing Apply, specify the capacity size (MB units) first, which is recommended at least 60000 MB (60 GB) or above 100 GB.
Click Ok if a notification window appears.
Do this repeatedly to create other partitions and their capacities.
To move to the next stage, please select Next by first selecting the Primary partition (to store Windows 10 system file data).
The installation process will run for a few moments.
After the process is complete, click Restart now, then immediately remove the flash so that the process does not repeat itself.
Wait for the running process to finish.
After Windows has been installed, please set your Windows 10 configuration.
Select the country of Indonesia, for the keyboard layout select US, and Skip for the second keyboard layout.
Click I don’t have internet and Continue with limited setup.
Create a PC username and password as desired.
Then to protect your account, there will be some questions from the system that must be answered and remembered with the answers.
After that, click Accept.
Wait for the system to prepare Windows 10 until the Windows 10 installation process with the flash is complete.
