Sony Ensures PS5 Region Free and Supports PS Now
GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The launch of the PlayStation 5 is just days away. Sony has published a list of FAQs that are commonly asked about the PS5, as well as outlining many details about the next-gen console. One of them is the relief information, where the PS5 will be region free, which means gamers can play games from other countries without any problems.
Regional issues can sometimes be a big problem, for example when a game released in Japan doesn’t get an official release in the United States. With region free, it means the game will still work on PS5.
As quoted by.ID from The Verge, the PS5 will also support Sony’s cloud gaming service, PlayStation Now. This is good news for gamers, who remember that PS Now will allow users to play more games than the previous generation PlayStation.
Gamers can download and stream certain PS4 games, even allowing users to stream some PS3 and PS2 games. Sony itself has confirmed that more than 4,000 PS4 games can be played on the PS5. In some early trials, many PS4 games got better improvements when played on these next-generation consoles.
Sony is also giving PlayStation Plus subscribers access to some of the PS4’s most popular songs through the PlayStation Plus collection on PS5. Sony’s PlayStation 5 will officially launch on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
While in several other countries, the PS5 will only be released later or 19 November. It is also unclear whether Indonesia is included in the category of “other countries”.
