The Number of New Mobile Game Players Skyrocketed

New mobile game players also spend more time playing mobile games than old players. On average, new players spend around 10 hours per week while incumbents spend 8 hours per week.

Choice of Game Types and Genres

Between playing solo or multiplayer, both old and new mobile game players prefer to play solo. However, if there is an opportunity to play with other people through multiplayer, new players obviously choose to play multiplayer.

Then in terms of game monetization, old and new players prefer free to play games with ads or in-app purchases compared to paid games or pay-to-play. This data is quite reasonable because the mobile game market is currently being dominated by games with different models free to play with in-app purchases.

For the choice of genre, from the 4 countries mentioned above, the most dominating genre is the Puzzle genre, followed by Shooter, RPG, Sports and Strategy.

Player Output

In playing mobile games, new players spend more money to buy in-game purchases than old players. New players can spend around $32 (455 thousand rupiah) while old players spend around $ 17 (241 thousand rupiah).

Based on the survey, the reason players spend money playing mobile games is to equip collectible items. For example, rare characters in RPG games. Another reason is to remove ads and buy cosmetic items.
