PS5's New VR Controller Comes with Support for Adaptive Triggers, Feedback, and Finger Touch Detection

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – After releasing its next generation console, PlayStation 5, Sony continues to develop accessories and other peripherals to make gaming more enjoyable. After developing VR glasses for the PS5, Sony has now shown the first look of a VR controller that can be used on the next-gen console.

Quoted from the PlayStation Blog, some of the features of the new controller do make the game more realistic. This is for the sake of adding to a fun playing experience for gamers.

The first feature is adaptive triggers. Later each VR controller, both left and right will be accompanied by an adaptive trigger button. This button will add tension when pressed, similar to that of the DualSense controller.

The next feature is haptic feedback. This new VR controller will have haptic feedback optimized with its shape. Thus, every sensation while playing the game will feel more realistic, both in terms of impact, feel and texture.

This Latest VR controller will also have a finger touch detection feature. This feature will allow the controller to detect the player’s finger, without pressing the area where the player’s thumb, index, or middle finger are placed. This will maximize player movement to make it more natural when using hands when playing games.

The tracking feature will also be an advantage of this VR controller. The tracking system will be located via a tracking ring on the bottom of the controller, which can track the new VR headset.

While the action buttons / analog sticks will later consist of one analog stick, triangle and square buttons, the L1 button as the “handle”, the L2 button as the “trigger” and the Circle button.

While the right controller will consist of an analog stick, the cross and circle buttons, the R1 button as the “handle”, the R2 button as the trigger and the Option button. One of the uses of the “handle” button is to pick up objects in the game.

There has been no official announcement when this Playstation 5 VR controller will be released. But of course the presence of this controller will complement the PS5’s new VR glasses that will make the game more realistic to play.
