Mabar Online Game Creates New COVID-19 Cluster in Sukabumi

GAMEFINITY.ID, Salatiga – Sukabumi Regency, West Java, continues to record high positive cases of Covid-19 every day. Now the COVID-19 Task Force in Jampang Kulon District has found a new cluster that arises from a group of people who are playing online games.

The COVID-19 Task Force in Jampang Kulon District, Dr. Givan stated that one of the clusters formed at several points which is often used by young people to play online games.

In his interview with sukabumiupdate.com, Dr Givan also explained how the online game cluster was formed.

“The search results show clusters of transmission when crowding, such as in online game hangouts,” said Dr. Givan.

The discovery of this online game mabar cluster was based on tracing the contact history of new COVID-19 patients in Jampang Kulon.

Based on a search by the COVID-19 Task Force, there were residents in the Mabar cluster who were exposed to the COVID-19 virus and transmitted it to their family or relatives at home.

“Kids hang out playing online games at the mabar. So when you are sick, take it home, the family who live in the house will get sick,” he said.

In examining contacts suspected of COVID-19, in Jampang Kulon, the Task Force found 14 people exposed to the COVID-19 virus per day. Examination by the Task Force used the Antigen Swab method and continued with PCR Swab.

Positive Cases of COVID-19 Increasing in Sukabumi Regency

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Sukabumi Regency is currently exploding. The Coordinator of Data and Information for the Sukabumi District COVID-19 Task Force, Andi Rahman, noted that from January 2021 to June 17, 2021, the total number of residents who were positive for the COVID-19 virus was 2,906 residents.

“The addition of 37 cases today (June 17) has brought the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Sukabumi Regency to 5,503 people,” said Andi Rahman.

New cases of COVID-19 on Thursday were recorded in seven sub-districts namely Citamiang, Cikole, Cibeureum, Baros, Warudoyong, Gunungpuyuh and Lembursitu.

However, the increasing number of cases causes various obstacles in handling COVID-19. Andi Rahman explained that there are a total of 172 beds in Sukabumi Regency. As of today, there are 104 beds that have been filled, bringing the total to only 68.

Seeing the increasing number of cases, Andi Rahman emphasized that residents should pay more attention to health protocols in order to reduce the number of positive cases. In particular, it is mandatory to wear masks, maintain distance, avoid crowds, wash hands with soap, and reduce mobility.
