“We hope this news can be a bit of consolation for fans who are worried about the team,” said DAMWON Gaming. BeryL will “take over” as the “new captain” of the League of Legends squad in 2021. “Once again, give warm encouragement and support to [BeryL] and our team.”
DAMWON Gaming, who won Worlds 2021 last month, allowed the top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon and BeryL to explore free agency on November 16th.
BeryL has now re-signed with the organization and has extended its contract by a full year, according to Riot’s official global contracts database.
Nuguri are yet to follow suit, but the team will almost certainly continue to pursue a contract extension with the world’s best top laner at the moment.
BeryL will join Worlds 2021 MVP Jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su, and bot lane Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun. Mekera together dominate at Worlds 2021, beating Suning LPL 3-1 in the final in Shanghai.
If DWG can secure Nuguri’s place on the roster, the team will be a force to fear heading into next year’s competitive season in Korea.
