5 Most Selling Dota 2 Heroes in ESL Indonesia Championship S2

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – There are 2 interesting statistics from the ESL Indonesia Championship Season 2 Dota 2 that can be studied to better understand META Dota 2 in Indonesia and its ecosystem.

The ESL Indonesia Championship Season 2 Dota 2 presented by Indofood with Chitato, Good to Go, Pop Mie, and Mercedez as Premium Sponsors and supported by Acer Predator and Logitech as Official Partners has indeed ended and crowned BOOM Esports as the champion.

However, there are 2 interesting statistics from this championship that can be studied to better understand META Dota 2 in Indonesia and its ecosystem.

5 of the most popular Dota 2 heroes in META Indonesia

During the Group Stage (July 16 – September 6 2021) and Grand Final (September 15, 2021), the following is a list of the 5 most-selling Dota 2 Heroes, aka the most frequently picked ones:

  • Shadow Demon
  • Spirit Bucket
  • Grimstroke
  • Sven
  • Tiny

To explain the significance of each Hero, here are the opinions of Brando Oloan (BoOM Esports Team Manager for Dota 2) and Yudi “Justincase” Anggi (one of the Shoutcasters for ESL Indonesia Championship S2 — Dota 2).

Shadow Demon

According to Brando, Shadow Demon (SD) will have a big impact even when he is in 5th position.

For those who don’t know, the division of positions in Dota 2 is sorted by the priority of each position to get resources (Gold and Exp). Position 1 is the first priority to get resources, that’s why this position is usually also called the Carry position. While position 5 is the last priority and is usually called Support.

Back again to Brando, according to him, SD can have a big influence even without items because his Skill 2 (Soul Catcher) deals damage based on the opponent’s HP percentage. Plus, SD also has Shadow Poison (Skill 3) which can make it easier for Carry to farm in the Jungle.

Yudi’s opinion is also in line with Brando’s. The Soul Catcher from SD which can reduce the opponent’s HP by 35% makes it too interesting to pass up.

Spirit Bucket

“Since the Aghanim’s Scepter effect update, Ember Spirit (ES) has become the prima donna because its Ultimate Skill (Fire Remnant) has more Charge and 3x more Casting Range.” Judy said.

Brando explained in more detail about the role of ES. According to him, ES can join the fight quickly and hold Lane who is pressed (because of his high mobility). This hero can also play on 2 sides, namely Safe-Lane and Mid-Lane. Because of this, the position can change according to the opponent during the laning phase.

Grimstroke

Brando said, “Grimstroke has a complete (Crowd Control) package starting from Slow, Silent, Stun, and Root. Skill 1 (Stroke of Fate) can also be used to help clearing waves or harassing opposing heroes.

Many Hero Carry are also compatible with Grimstroke during the laning phase, such as Sven, Lifestealer, Juggernaut, and others. His Ultimate Skill (Soulbind) can be combined with many other skills during big battles, aka teamfights.”

In addition to Yudi, according to him, Grimstroke is a safe Hero Support option because it is useful during the Laning Phase for harassing or during team fights because it can give Silent effects and has Soulbind as an Ultimate Skill.

Sven

According to Yudi, Sven is a safe carry because it is strong for the laning phase or for war. His 3rd skill (Warcry) is very relevant in all phases of the game (early – late).

Meanwhile, according to Brando, Sven is a strong Hero in the laning phase because he can farm quickly thanks to his 2nd Skill (Great Cleave).

Just like Yudi earlier, Brando also said that Sven’s 3rd Skill is very useful for teamfights because it can give buffs to teammates and yourself.

However, one important note added by Brando, this Sven is only used 2x after TI9. The high frequency of use occurred in the pre-TI9 period.

Tiny

The last hero on the list of 5 best-selling Dota 2 Heroes is Tiny. For Brando, Tiny is a very flexible Hero because he can fill positions 2,3, or 4.

Combo Avalance Toss can also be used for burst damage. In the early-mid game, he can also be used to create space for his teammates. After TI9, he became Top Pick and Ban because of the game from Topson from OG.

Yudi also added, thanks to the last update for Aghanim, the damage to Tree Volley was too big even though it did require setup from his teammates to maximize the Skill.

10 Most Influential Players in ESL Indonesia Championship S2 Dota 2

After Hero statistics, another statistic that is no less interesting is the KDA rating (Kill/Death/Assist) for the players who competed in the ESL Indonesia Championship S2 – Dota 2.

The following is a list of names, teams, and their KDA ratings:

  1. Muhammad “InYourDream” Rizky – BOOM Esports – 10.74
  2. Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman – BOOM Esports – 8.51
  3. Saieful “Fbz” Ilham – BOOM Esports – 7.90
  4. Souliya “Jackky” Khoomphetsavong – EVOS Esports – 6.85
  5. Muhammad “Azur4” Luthfi – PG.Barracx – 6.82
  6. Ramzi “Ramz” Bayhaki – Alter Ego – 6.09
  7. Randy “Dreamocel” Sapoetra – BOOM Esports – 5.71
  8. Christian “Cije” Jonathan – Antrophy – 5.42
  9. Rudy “Barbie-USAGI” Lucky Thutang – Alter Ego – 5.40
  10. Usep “Facehugger” Satiawan – EVOS Esports – 5.31

From the list above, there are some interesting things that can be discussed.

First, the list above uses team names when they compete for the ESL Indonesia Championship S2 – Dota 2. The reason is, even though this tournament just finished last week, a lot has happened in the Indonesian Dota 2 ecosystem.

Jacky (ranked 4 in the KDA rating earlier), a player from Laos who previously played for EVOS Esports has also joined Resurgence (a team from Singapore) along with Yusuf “Yabyoo” Kurniawan who previously played for Antrophy.

EVOS Esports has also been disbanded to its Dota 2 division, according to a post from Ivan Yeo, CEO of EVOS Esports, on his LinkedIn.

Some of the players joined Cije (ranked 8 in KDA rating) to form the God Seekers team for the Indonesian qualification for an international tournament.

The PG.Barracx players also chose to use the name Garuda Muda team for the qualification for the same tournament earlier.

Second, the dominance of BOOM Esports in the Indonesian Dota 2 martial arts world is increasingly evident from the ratings. The reason is, there are 4 BOOM players who are included in the list earlier.

The top 3 positions are also occupied by all BOOM players. InYourDream (IYD), which is at the top of the KDA rating, is no longer in question. The reason is, this star player from Indonesia even entered the list of 25 players with the highest MMR at the Global level.

One thing that is a little surprising is the inclusion of Dreamocel on this list. The reason is, he is the only Support player (position 4) among the Carry players (position 1 or 2).

He also recently played as Support (previously, he also played as Carry). However, it is also natural to remember that Dreamocel is also one of the star players from Indonesia or seeing the dominance of BOOM Esports in the Indonesian Dota 2 universe. (wow)
