Omen Gaming Monitor Preview: Fierce-Looking Superior

If Acer has the Predator line, and ASUS has the Republic of Gamers (ROG), then HP has Omen. The name refers to the brand under which HP has set its ambition to give everything to the gaming market, including the one we’ll be looking at here: the Omen gaming monitor.

There are at least two options to choose from when it comes to Omen gaming monitors. The first with a 25-inch screen, and the second with a 27-inch screen. Maybe you all remember some discussion some time ago, where we gave a good tip: if you want to buy a gaming monitor (or non-gaming monitor) QHD resolution, then choose one with a 27-inch screen or smaller.

At first glance, the two monitors separated by the size of the screen landscape are not much different. It’s just that the 25-inch model only carries a 1080p resolution screen; while his twin brother carries a Quad HD resolution. So if you want a desktop monitor that can display richer details, the 27-inch makes the most sense.

Well, the Omen gaming monitor meets the minimum requirements between a healthy comparison between resolution and screen landscape.

Design

Seen from the front, the Omen gaming monitor looks fierce and elegant. The black color that covers every inch of its body makes it appear as a monitor that can make you feel at home sitting for a long time (while playing your favorite game) without experiencing eye fatigue.

The brand “Omen” was clearly marked at the bottom center of the monitor, and seemed to make a strong statement to anyone who glanced at his body. In other words, the Omen gaming monitor seems to want to emphasize its superiority in the midst of other monitors.

It’s just that, although fierce, this one monitor has not looked the most exclusive. The bezel (the outer edge that defines the inside and outside of the monitor) is still clearly visible, and may detract from the elegant feel that HP offers. It means this: if you are familiar with this type of screen bezel-less, what is offered by Omen perhaps less beautiful. But of course you can’t let enthusiasm be crushed by the thick stuff bezel monitors.

Quality and Performance

The quality of the Omen monitor is at least visible first of all from the contrast ratio, where HP sets a number of 1000:1 in static conditions and 10000:1 in dynamic conditions. The referenced static contrast number actually marks the quality of Omen, where the contrast performance is capable. This number will increase along with how the monitor is used.

The refresh rate of 165Hz also shows another aspect that makes Omen’s performance high. Then the response time of 1ms is more promising than its closest competitor, the Acer Predator X34 (although this one has a wider screen landscape and aesthetic aspect that makes it look cooler.)

Unfortunately, the QHD resolution that is carried has not yet reached the 4K level. As compensation, this monitor performs with brightness of 350 cd/m², which is much higher than the standard brightness of a monitor. With such a large number, your eyes will not get tired quickly when you have to stare at it for hours.

Then there is a feature that seems to be rarely considered by other vendors: the presence of a headphone jack on the right side of the monitor. The position of the plug in that section is very helpful, because people now don’t have to bother plugging the headphone cable into the PC audio jack.

Ambient lighting is an interesting feature offered by Omen, where users can have between Task Light (white), Screen Glow, Static colors or Random colors. This feature is very useful because it adds costume options that can be done by the user. Oh yes, the TN panel used in the Omen gaming monitor, according to HP, can also be overclocked. At the Pemmz store, we provide the Omen Gaming Monitor which sells for Rp. 9,990,000.

Fantastic color reproduction. Moreover, its large contrast ratio value also guarantees the ultimate increase in experience when playing certain games.
