The following is information about the features Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
- Customize your character and home, and decorate the landscape (with furniture, if you like!), as you create your very own island paradise.
- Experience a robust new crafting system—collect materials to construct everything from furniture to tools!
- Enjoy a variety of relaxing activities like gardening, fishing, decorating, interacting with charming NPCs, and more, as classic Animal Crossing experiences come to life in fun new ways within the deserted-island setting.
What should be noted is that in addition to the ESRB rating logo, there is additional information that says “In-Game Purchases” or paid content.
Looking at Nintendo Switch games that have been released previously, this paid content will be in the form of DLC or Season Pass. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate previously also had “In-Game Purchases” in the form of a Fighters Pass and Mii Fighter costume DLC. Animal Crossing: New Leaf previously also had various DLC after the game’s release, shared via the Nintendo 3DS’s SpotPass feature or Nintendo Zones.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will not use Nintendo Switch Online’s cloud save backup feature. According to producer Higashi Nogami, this is done so that players don’t manipulate time in the game like in the previous series. And also 1 Nintendo Switch console can only have 1 island, no matter how many registered users or more than 1 game are used on the console. A maximum of 8 registered users can live on 1 island, and a maximum of 4 players can play simultaneously.
Here is the official Nintendo Switch unboxing video Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition, will be released a week before the game releases. You can read the closeup photos here.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2021.
